I hope by the time you read this the weather will have made up its mind whether to finally go into winter or give up on it altogether and leap into spring.
The birds are singing their hearts out and no doubt will be nesting even earlier than in recent years, don't forget to feed them and provide them will water especially if the weather turns again which it will no doubt do. Remember they are the gardeners best friend helping to deal with the pests that we bring up with our digging, encouraging them with appropriate wild bird food on a regular basis will keep them coming to your patch knowing that meals are provided and this in turn will have them hunting out that extra morsel of slug, snail, aphid or caterpillar.
Don't be caught out by wanting to plant and sow too early as late frosts can play havoc with tender young seedlings and seeds sown a little later always catch up. The soil is also extremely wet at the moment so keep off it as much as possible, how about hunting through the seed catalogues and find yourself something new to try this year.
