Hillingdon Allotment News 14: Vegetables for exhibition and culinary use

items are ready in approx. 14 weeks after sowing]
This list was produced as a handout from a talk given a couple of years ago by one of the allotment judges. It is not meant to be exhaustive, but as an indicator for those who are interested in eating their produce as much as they are in showing it.
- Broad beans. Exhibition Long pod.
- French beans. The Prince. (flat), Cobra (pencil).
- Runner beans. Enorma (Stenner strain). Pick and put in cling film.
- Beetroot, round. Pablo. Boltardy. Red Ace.
- Carrot, long. Red intermediate. Grow in 50% sand, 50% JI compost.
- Carrot, other. Gringo; Boston.
- Cauliflower. Beauty; Late man. Ready in 11- 12 weeks, (80 – 90 days).
- Cucumber, indoor. Carmen; Flamingo; Tiffany; Bodega.
- Marrows, table. Dainty.
- Onions, over 250 gms. Kelsae raw strain.
- Onions, under 250 gms. Toughball; Sturon; Radar; Turbo.
- Leeks. Peter Clarke strain.
- Parsnips. Gladiator; Javelin.
- Peas. Show Perfection; Hurst Greenshaft.
- Potatoes white, Winston; Nadine; Charlotte.
- Potatoes coloured, Kestrel; Osprey; Armour.
- Radish. Prinz Rotin.
- Shallots. Hativede noirt; Sante.
- Tomatoes, medium, about 65mm. Shirley; Vandos; Amanda; Typhoon; Solution.
- Tomatoes, small, under 35mm. Sungold; Bambi.
